ABOUT

Customvans renovated our 1st van as a result of Covid and the following political fallout. We enjoyed the project and learned so much that now we rent, sell and customize high-top vans full time. It has given our customers significant autonomy. Not only does it give them a lower carbon footprint, but a lower cost of living than a mortgage. An idealized version of this process has been popularized through social media with the hashtag #vanlife.

Although many types of vehicles may be used for mobile living arrangements, we exclusively customize high-top cargo vans for stealth parking purposes. No conventional metro-buses, school buses, RVs, travel trailers, or mobile homes. Nor do we deal with SUVs or larger station wagons. Many municipalities have laws prohibiting overnight parking and/or sleeping in such vehicles. Our high-top cargo vans make this difficult to determine. You don't want to be limited to Walmart or Home Depot (private property) parking lot overnight.

This “high-top” is a signature feature for each of our conversions because it also allows occupants to stand in the van without bending over. The high-top is also our signature inclusion because a wheelchair occupant can be lifted into the van without ducking. The high-top also allows for vastly more storage. If not stock, all of our vans have a portion of the original factory roof cut away and a "high-top" roof added before it came to us.

Customvans reduces carbon emission by using things like solar panels, promoting a minimalistic lifestyle to reduce waste. We’re motivated to make small changes in their life to lessen these resource and energy demands.

The Team:

RW: A carpenter by trade, RW’s lifestyle is of living full-time in vehicles, typically vans that he has modified with basic amenities, such as house batteries, solar panels, a bed platform, some form of toilet, sink and storage space. RW is a nomadic individual who embraces minimalism on a journey to reassess what is truly important for a happy and balanced life. You can visit his personal website HERE.

Mike: I choose to live this lifestyle by choice while seeking freedom, self-sufficiency, and mobility without paying for conventional stationary housing. I'm free to travel as much or little as I would like. Luckily, RW chooses to remain in Miami Beach, and work full-time on other’s vehicles while I travel full-time working remotely via the Internet; finding people like you to work with us. You can visit his personal website HERE.
